The slot itself is on every plan. On the free plan and while your trial runs it carries our own sponsor, which is what pays for a league that costs you nothing. It is also the way to see how the slot looks on your own page before you buy it. A paid plan makes the name yours.
Set it under Club → Settings: their name, their website if they have one, and an end date if the sponsorship runs to one. The screen shows you exactly how it will look as you type, which is the thing to show the sponsor before they say yes.
Their name appears in two places. Under the season line at the top of your league, where every member sees it every time they check a score. And at the foot of every picture you share out of the app: the table, the still-to-play list and the results. Those are the ones that get forwarded into a group chat, so they travel further than the page does.
What it is worth
A box league of forty players is forty people opening the same page two or three times a week for the length of a season. Add whoever sees the images in the group chat. Clubs sell this slot to a physio, a racket stringer, a coach, an estate agent or a builder. Usually for a season at a time, and usually for more than the plan costs.
What we do not do: track who clicks. There is no counter behind the link and no redirect through us. If a sponsor wants numbers, tell them the size of the league and how often it is looked at.
How to find a sponsor, and what to charge: who to ask first, what to say, and a worked example of the arithmetic.
One at a time
One sponsor, not a list. Two of them is an advertising slot rather than a supporter, and the second one always wants to know why it is second.
Set an end date and the name comes off by itself the day after. Leave it blank and it stays until you change it. Removing one is a button, and it takes effect on the page and on the next image straight away.
What a sponsor may be
No gambling, no alcohol brands and nothing political. The league is read by juniors and their parents. We will ask you to take down a sponsor that breaks that, and the link has to go to the sponsor rather than back to another club.
If your club drops to One Box your sponsor stops appearing and the slot goes back to carrying ours. What you typed is kept exactly as it is, so going back onto a paid plan puts it straight back with nothing to retype.
