Clayside  ·  The guide  ·  Finding a game

How do I find somebody to play?

Say when you are free, or that your four is one short. The first yes takes it.

Request support

When you are free for a game, post it under Play › Games and the first person to say yes takes it. Give a time, or a stretch like 16:00 to 20:00, and whoever takes it picks the start. It reaches people in the app and on their phone, never by email, and nobody's number goes anywhere.

A friendly

Records nothing: no score, no rating, no level.

A ladder match

A real match, offered to everybody your ladder lets you play. The score goes in on the ladder as usual.

Who is asked

  1. Around my level, first. Members close to your level whose level is known.
  2. Around my level, next. Members we know less about, a little further out.
  3. Anyone at the club. The 20 nearest, wherever they sit.

Pick people starts from the suggestions and lets you change them. Nobody is shown a level, and nobody sees who else was asked.

With few results to go on, Around my level says so. A member with no results is asked once how they would describe their game. The answer only helps choose who to ask, and never becomes a level.

Who is never asked

Juniors Members who have left No sign-in Don't ask me for games

Juniors are never asked or offered a game. The Don't ask me for games switch is on Games and on You. Nobody is asked more than 3 times in a day, even when picked by hand.

A four that is one short

Choose Doubles, say how many you need and who is already playing. Got a court already? fills in the time and court from a booking you have made here. When the last place goes, everybody else's offer disappears.

Can't make it? Press Find someone for my place. Your place is offered around the others' level, and they hear when it is filled, or an hour before if not. It is also under Can't make it on a court booking, and the booker has We need a player.

Guests

On a doubles friendly you can name a guest as already playing, or take two places as Me and a guest. A guest is a name and nothing more: never asked, never told, never on the club list. Your club's guest rules and fees still apply, and your club can turn guests off.

When a game goes

An offer disappears when the game is taken, called off, or its time has passed. A game is offered up to 14 days ahead, and you can have 2 out at once.
