An americano is a club night where you get a new partner every round, and the night keeps a running total for you.
What you score
A round that ends 15-9 adds 15 to Sam’s total and 15 to Priya’s, and 9 each to Alex and Tom. The points, not the match: losing a round costs you nothing else.
If your club scores its rounds in games, it is the games. Highest total wins the night, unless your club ends on a final: one more round for the top of the table, which decides it.
Sitting a round out
Four people fill a court, so when the numbers do not divide, somebody sits. With nine of you on two courts, the bench goes round the room:
Round 1: SamRound 2: PriyaRound 3: JoRound 4: MayaRound 5: Alex
Sitting costs you only the points you were not there to win. Arrive late and you are dealt into the next round.
