Import takes the spreadsheet you already keep, and you do not have to tidy it first. It is five screens.
- Your listPaste the rows in, or choose a CSV file.
- The columnsMatched for you. Change any you like.
- What will happenCounted before anything is written.
- Bringing them inOnly when you press the button.
- DoneOne press undoes the lot.
Paste it, or pick a CSV
Copy the rows out of your sheet, headings and all, and paste them in. Most clubs do.
A file has to be a CSV. Excel, Numbers and Google Sheets all save one from Save as in the File menu. An .xlsx on its own will not open here.
Does the file leave my laptop?
No. It is read in your browser, and only the rows you approve are sent. A column you ignore never leaves the room.
Do I have to say what each column is?
What will it actually do?
Step three tells you, in a line like this:
38 new members. 4 are already on the register and will be left exactly as they are. 1 row cannot be used.
On a club plan it can bring subscriptions too. Map a Membership type column and everybody it names gets a subscription on that type. Map Have they paid beside it and those people are recorded as paid, at the full year's price. A type your price list does not have is named, and those rows are tagged instead.
Nothing is written until you press Bring them in.
What if it goes in wrong?
Every list you have brought in is on the first screen of Import, each with its own Undo. It leaves behind anybody who has done something since (played a match, signed in, paid) and anybody it gave a subscription, and tells you who it kept and why.
Then what?
They are on your register, ready for the boxes and the ladder. Your members is where you tag and find them. Inviting everybody is the other half: it tells them the club is running something.
