Free tennis round robin generator
Type the names and say how many courts you have. You get a round robin where everybody plays everybody: who is on which court each round, who sits out, how long it will take, and a table that adds up the scores as they go in. Singles, fixed doubles pairs or a new partner every round, for tennis, pickleball, badminton, squash or padel.
Made with the free tennis round robin generator from Clayside, at clayside.app/resources. Clayside runs your club's box leagues, ladders, tournaments and social nights, with the players entering their own scores and every table live for the club. See it at clayside.app
How the schedule is made
A tennis round robin schedule where everybody meets everybody once
- Singles and fixed pairs: everybody plays everybody before anybody plays the same opponent twice, using as many of your courts as the numbers fill.
- A new partner each round: everybody partners everybody before anybody partners the same person twice.
- The sitting out goes round the room. Nobody sits twice before everybody has sat once, where the numbers allow.
- Rounds left empty means the whole round robin. Type a number when the evening is shorter, and the sitting out is still shared evenly.
How many rounds each number of players needs, the tie-break order and how long an evening runs are in tennis round robin formats for 4 to 16 players. For a night played to a points total, use the americano and mexicano generator. A singles round robin played over a few weeks is a box, and the box league spreadsheet keeps one. Running a pickleball session? The pickleball round robin generator keeps the points.
Questions
What organisers ask about the tennis round robin generator
How many rounds does a round robin take?
In singles with a court for every match, one round fewer than there are players, or one round per player when the number is odd and somebody sits out each time. With fewer courts it takes more rounds, and the generator works out how many and how long that is.
What is the difference between fixed pairs and a new partner each round?
Fixed pairs enter together and every pair plays every other pair, which suits a doubles event. With a new partner each round, players enter alone and partner everybody once, which suits a club night where people turn up on their own.
Should we count games won or matches won?
Games won suits a social evening, because a close loss still counts. Matches won suits a competition, with the result between two level players and then the share of games won to separate them. Pick one before the first round.
Does it work for pickleball, badminton, squash and padel?
Yes. Anything played in singles or doubles on a court works the same way. Only the score you type changes: games, points or sets.
Is anything saved or sent anywhere?
Nothing is sent. The names and scores stay in this browser, so the schedule survives a refresh, and Start again clears them.
