Somebody who is not a member yet joins through your joining link, on the Invite tab under Club. It is one link for the whole club and names nobody, so it is safe on a poster, in a newsletter or on your own website.
Somebody who asks through your club link is answered on the register instead: see Your members.
- They applyThey pick from your categories and prices, say who is joining, and set up the Direct Debit. A family applies once.
- It waits for youAt the top of the Money screen, under Waiting for you. A stranger typed it, so the club decides.
- You say yesAccept, and they are members.
What you do with an application
- What is not settled. A transfer they say they made, no Direct Debit yet, or an email not confirmed.
- Two ways to accept when they say they paid by transfer, and one, Accept, for everybody else. Accept, money’s in records it as paid on the day they said, once you have checked your bank. Accept, not in yet records no payment.
- The wrong membership? Change it… moves them first. The new price is worked out for the day they applied, and they are told it when you accept. Decline cancels any Direct Debit they set up. They are not told, so if they should hear from anybody, it is you.
When you accept, each name is set against your register:
Say it is the same person, and the application is linked to their record rather than making a second one. Nobody gets a second subscription for this year.
Accepting makes them.
What you have already decided, under the queue, lists what you accepted or declined.
A family who have joined before
They go back into their household, and it is one payment as it was last time. If the people you linked are in two different households, you are told before you accept. Nothing is merged for you, because merging moves a payer and possibly a live Direct Debit. Accept anyway for a new household, or put them in one household on the register first.
How they get in afterwards
The code that signs them in is emailed beside the joining, never in front of it. Nobody should have to prove an address to find out what membership costs.
If you would rather not take applications
A joining link needs an open membership year, and refuses everybody without one. The Invite tab says so and gives you the button that opens a year. A club that does not want applications simply does not hand the link out.
