Everything you need to write about Clayside
Descriptions at five lengths, the logo, seven screenshots, every price and the facts about the company that runs it. Take what you need. You do not have to ask, and nothing here is under embargo.
One person answers that address, usually the same working day. If you want to run a real league of your own before you write, say so and you will get one, set up and left running.
Boilerplate
Descriptions, at the lengths forms ask for
Written to be pasted, not rewritten. Use whichever fits the field in front of you. UK English, and the word count is on each one.
What it is
What it does, and what it does not
Limits stated as plainly as features. A reviewer finds them out anyway, and a page that says them first is a page that gets believed on the rest.
- Box leagues with automatic fixtures, live standings and drafted promotion and relegation
- Club ladder with an Elo-style rating, recomputed from the match log on every read
- Players enter their own scores from a link. No account, no password, no app install
- The opponent confirms, or the result confirms itself after three days
- Singles and doubles boxes, and boxes that play everyone once or twice
- Walkovers and retirements recorded as such, not as invented scores
- Thirteen scoring formats across five sports, seven of them tennis, with configurable points for a win, a bonus set and a straight-sets loss
- Career stats across seasons, and every past season readable for as long as the club is there
- One-click export of everything. A lapsed club goes read-only rather than losing its data
- Up to 10 league owners on every plan, free included, so a league survives a volunteer handover
- The club holds a player's name and nothing else. No email, no phone, no date of birth
- No analytics, no trackers, no third-party fonts. UK company, EU data residency
- Progressive web app. No native app, no push notifications, no match-arranging, no reminders

A box, as a member sees it
One box of seven: the grid of who has played whom, the live standings underneath, and a score in purple that the opponent has not confirmed yet.

Entering a score, on a phone
What a player gets from the link in the group chat. No account, no password, and the scoring format is named at the top so nobody has to guess.

A match that did not finish
Walkovers and retirements are recorded as what they were, rather than as a made-up score, and the points either side earns are shown before the score is saved.

The club ladder
An all-year ladder beside the boxes, with an Elo-style rating, recent form and the rules stated on the page rather than buried in a help file.
club-ladder.png · 2344 x 1872 PNG
One player, across the season
Every ladder player has a rating history, a peak, a win-loss record and a streak. The dashed tail is a result that is still awaiting confirmation.

A doubles box
Doubles runs in the same season as singles. A pair is one entry, so the standings, the fixtures and the confirmations work exactly as they do for a singles box.

Playing everyone twice
A box can be set to play everyone home and away. Each half of the grid is one leg, which is how a club runs a longer winter season without splitting it in two.

Brand
Logo, colour and type
Use the logo as it is. Do not restretch it, recolour it or set the name in another face. Beyond that there is no brand book and there is not going to be one.
| Logo mark, SVG | Scalable. The one to use if you can |
|---|---|
| Logo mark, 512 PNG | Square, on the brand blue |
| Logo mark, 192 PNG | Square, for a small slot |
| Share card, 1200 x 630 PNG | The full lockup, mark and wordmark |
There is no separate wordmark file. The share card carries the full lockup, mark and word together, and the mark on its own is the SVG above. If you need the wordmark cut out on transparent for a print page, ask at hello@clayside.app and you will get one.
#194963The blue everything sits on. Backgrounds, headings, links
#0D2E41The darker blue in the logo square and the footer
#D9E84CThe one accent. Used sparingly and never for body text
| Barlow Condensed | 700 for headings and the wordmark |
|---|---|
| Barlow | 400 and 600 for body copy |
| IBM Plex Mono | 400 to 600 for scores, prices and anything a reader compares in a column |
All three are open licence and we self-host them, so nothing on this site asks a font service for a visitor's address. The stylesheet and the licence are both public.

Every page URL ends in a slash. The form without one redirects, so a link stored without it costs a hop.
Who is behind it
Why it exists
What we cannot give you
No customer names, no club logos, no user numbers and no testimonials. Clayside is new, and the clubs on it have not agreed to be written about. We would rather say that than pad this page with a case study nobody can check.
What is checkable is the product. The demo is a full season with boxes, a doubles box, a ladder, a walkover and a retirement in it, and it resets every hour, so you can break it without asking. If you want to run a season of your own on a real league before you write, say so and one will be set up for you and left running.
If you spot something on this page that has gone out of date, tell us and it gets fixed the same day. The prices and limits here are generated from the code that enforces them, so if one is wrong the product is wrong too, and we would like to know.
