Club website widgets you paste in once and forget

Within a minute. The widget is worked out fresh from your league and held for sixty seconds at most, so a score approved on Clayside at half past eight is on your club website by twenty-nine minutes to nine.

Nobody edits the website for it, and there is nothing to press. The page is the same two lines it was in September.

No. A widget shows what your league page already shows a stranger: names, positions and scores, and nothing else. There is no email address, no phone number and no birthday anywhere near it.

A club that has shut its competitions to members only gets a card on its website saying so, rather than a table. One switch covers both.

No, and it sets nothing else either. There is no tracker in it, no third-party font and no script of any kind: a widget is a page of text and a stylesheet, and that is the whole of it.

What happens is that a visitor to your website fetches one small page from us. Our privacy policy says so in a line of its own.

It is as wide as you let it be, and it stays inside whatever column your website gives it. On a narrow screen the table drops played, won and lost, and keeps position, name and points, because that is what somebody standing in the car park is looking for.

You choose light or dark, or let it follow whatever the reader's phone is set to.

Set the accent to your club's colour and it runs through the heading, the tabs and the buttons. Turn the title bar off if your website already has a heading above it, and turn the sponsor line off if you would rather it were not there.

The type is ours by default, so it reads like the app your members already use. Switch it to your website's own type and the widget disappears into the page.

The one thing a widget can only show is something your plan runs: a club with no ladder has no ladder widget to paste.

Some of the cheaper website plans do, and there is no way round it from our end. Try the widget's address on its own first, because several builders take an address where they will not take pasted HTML.

If neither works, put a plain link to your club's Clayside address on the page. It is one tap for a member and it never goes out of date.

The widget reads it from your league every time it draws, so replacing the link changes what the button on your website opens within the minute, with nobody editing the website.
