Your AGM figures, counted for you

The numbers a committee reads out once a year now sit on one screen. Nothing to count by hand, and nothing on it names a member.

By Daniel Byrne, 1 September 2026

What changes

One screen for the meeting. Stats counts your own register and your own subscriptions, year by year, on a club plan. Nothing on it can be changed, and nobody is named anywhere on it.

A bar chart of members per year over nine years, under four summary figures: members, joined, left and came back.
Members at the end of every year, counted from the register. The hatched years are worked out from joining dates, so they are a shape rather than an exact count.

The answer in words. Under each chart is a sentence ready to read out at the AGM, so nobody has to turn a chart into a sentence on the night.

Who stays, and why the rest went. Those who did not come back are three numbers: they told you, they never took up the subscription they were sent, or they never answered. The last is usually the biggest, and the only one a phone call fixes.

Who plays, and whether it keeps them. How many members played in a competition. Then the one worth reading twice: how many came back, split by whether they played at all.

Take it away. Download gives you one spreadsheet of the whole screen, a tab for each part, for the committee papers. Everything on it is a count, so there are no names, phone numbers or addresses.

A first year counts in months. Until your second membership year opens, the screen counts in months. A part that needs more history waits at the foot of the screen, naming the month it arrives.

Where to find it

Open Club, then Stats, beside Money. Whoever runs the club sees it, and so do the secretary, treasurer and committee.

What do the figures tell me?

Members, who stays, who plays, who they are and what came in. Counted from what you already have.
